Aldini's C:S Works

Aldini.

thanks for your update here and full set of pics,

and sure my friend i will let you know what i think !

In pic 1-

I love the idea of the redesign of the road layout and i am sure you have put a lot of thought into this and this should high keep traffic evenly distributed..

pic-2 - Yes this likely needs to be avoid in regards to a bit too much traffic using a single network. I assume here you will be providing alternative transit options in the future in this area ?

pic 3, - nice plan here with the stream . I like that you are considering environmental concerns in your redevelopment planning !

pic 4-  Land values as you likely know also figure into sim city 4 game play. but perhaps not to the same extent as it does in CS

the rest of the pics -  nice aesthetics !!

@bben

Pic 2 - Unfortunately, there used to be a train line servicing that road, but it was decommissioned in favor of the new metro usage. There is a metro line and freeway proposed as a solution for this increase of usage.

Pic 3 - I actually had planned this city to be environmentally excellent from the start. If you will, in the first picture, notice the large amount of untouched land along the stream just in front of downtown. I plan to have this be sort of a "Central Park" area with plazas and pathways following the stream.

Pic 4 - Land value is a function of the game, just not as much as you think it is in C:S. In this case I artificially created this scenario because land value prices will actually result in no developments for years in certain cities IRL. Land value in game, is actually still very high in this area so I wasn't completely lying. icon_jokercolor.png

@bben land value affects development in real life, in C:S land value only primarily affects the building stage.

@Aldini10 Excellent photos as always! Looking forward to your traffic solutions.

Yes , it looks very nice Aldini

Also I noticed , that you always have a great suburban sprawl..

Did you realize also your only + 1 rep points away from 100 ?

A remarkable milestone you should be very proud of my friend !

Your skyline is really coming along and looking more full and mature (for lack of better terms :monkey: )

I'm also liking your freeway-less arterial thoroughfares. How is congestion on these roadways?

Thank you @bben, I didn't notice thanks for letting me know. This is excellent!

@pupper_donut thanks, I have known the skyline wasn't too interesting but it's coming well enough now. I was trying to focus on the undeveloped land around to make it look like it's not just a downtown area.

As for the traffic, there are no major issues. Traffic flow hovers around 86%. Perhaps the only place I see future trouble for is the intersection in a post I made a while back. The road connecting the outer suburb villa to the inner city takes 160-180 vehicles per game instance. More growth is expected to occur in that area. Hopefully this does not create a Katy Freeway scenario. :monkey:

I am working to see how well this city can handle vehicle traffic without freeways, and when the time comes, I will split off this city with another saved game file where I construct freeways and check the differences. This should be an interesting experiment.

I've gotten some higher density towers to be constructed on my downtown land as part of the city's master plan. It's coming out great!

Aldini , I agree that really looks super !

What a lovely developed CBD, WOW

I think I especially like the night shot pic, that has to be my favorite man.

Do those super towers cause a lot of extra traffic like they would in SC 4 ?

Or perhaps traffic dose not work the same in CS ?

Thanks for the superb update, Brian

The tall office towers actually do cause a lot of extra traffic to materialize in the vicinity. I don't remember about SC4 stats because I never got that far, but it's a fair amount. I introduced metro to combat road traffic, so now downtown has formed enormous amounts of pedestrian traffic. I will create a post outlining this situation very soon.

Oh yes,

my biggest traffic challenge in most of my cities in SC 4 , is a large and dense CBD

But i will be interested in your further reports on this...

Besides CBDs, industrial districts create by far the highest concentrations of traffic in C:S, due to combining both the insane amount of trucks as well as commuters onto the same roadways.

Your CBD is coming along really nicely, I'm looking forward to seeing this new metro!
